Everton Football Club

EFC BadgeEverton - The People's Club, has been at the forefront of English football ever since the club was formed in 1878.

Everton Football Club History

The St Domingo School was opened in May 1870 and eight playeryears later the football team using the name played its first match in the south-east corner of Stanley Park.

St Domingo's FC quickly established a local reputation for themselves and players were recruited from outside of the parish, however in November 1879 they changed their name to EVERTON.

In 1883 Everton moved to Anfield (home of Liverpool Football Club) however after a dispute over rent in 1892 the Everton committee decided to move again to Mere Green Field (what became Goodison Park), rather than pay the increased rate.
