Welcome to Mattel Play! Liverpool, a fully undercover family entertainment centre located at Liverpool's iconic Albert Dock. Based on the popular TV characters that children know and love – Thomas & Friends™, Bob the Builder™ and Fireman Sam™, head to the waterfront this Christmas and inspire your child’s imagination with over 13,000 square feet of interactive adventure play across three uniquely themed zones. Once inside you don’t sit and watch, but instead it is your child’s creativity, physicality and natural curiosity that brings their favourite characters and stories to life.

Visit between 16th and 23rd December to enjoy festive story time with the Fat Controller, seasonal crafts including Christmas card decorating and carols with the Mattel Play! team.

With free entry to the on-site café and retail area, you can enjoy festive menu options and an amazing shop packed to the rafters with a mind boggling selection of gift ideas including branded toys, games and clothing. So, your little ones can enjoy an amazing day out and you can complete the Christmas shopping at the same time.

Map & Directions

Road Directions

You’ll find brown tourist signposts to both ‘Liverpool waterfront’ and ‘Albert Dock’ from the M62; if you’re coming from Wirral via the M53, head northbound from Ellesmere Port, through the Wallasey (Kingsway) Tunnel. Merge onto Scotland Road as you leave, and turn right at the lights, following signs for ‘Liverpool waterfront’ or ‘Albert Dock’.

Visitors arriving on the A41 through Birkenhead should follows signs for the Queensway Tunnel, which will in turn signpost you to the Dock and waterfront.

You’ll find parking on site at the Albert Dock, plus supplementary car parks at both Liverpool ONE and ACC Liverpool. If parking at the Albert Dock, look out for the designated family car park signed as "Car Park B" (the barriered car park on Gower Street). If you’re using sat nav, use the postcode L3 4AA.

Public Transport Directions

Albert Dock is a 20-minute walk from Lime Street, Liverpool’s mainline station, through Liverpool ONE. You can also reach us on foot from either the Museum of Liverpool and Cruise Liner terminal, or ACC Liverpool.

If you don’t fancy the 20-minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street, our mainline station, you can transfer to the Merseyrail Wirral Line at Lime Street, which takes you to James Street Station, just a five minute walk from the Albert Dock. If you’re travelling on Merseyrail’s Northern Lines, Liverpool Central station is only a short walk away. Plus, a family of 5 travel for just £10 with a Merseyrail Family Ticket, covering unlimited travel after 9.30am on weekdays and anytime on weekends and bank holidays.

The C4, C5 and City Link bus services stop at Albert Dock; the Liverpool ONE bus station is just opposite us too, where services in and out of the city centre start and finish.
